A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I stay pretty busy when not actively working on art. I work full time at an art gallery (Paid!), I’m the visual art director for a small artist collective (unpaid), and I’m on an artist panel for a nonprofit art gallery in Fort Wayne Indiana (unpaid). I also curate exhibitions quarterly for small galleries around town (unpaid.)

2. Why do you make art?

It’s strange, It just has to be done, I don’t know why but it does. It’s like doing spiritually fulfilling chores.

3. What inspires you?

When I’m in the studio: coffee, jazz music, isolation from everyone, and a total freedom to do whatever I want, keeps me inspired to work into the late hours of the night.

4. What/who are your influences?

My influences are plentiful and always evolving. My obsession with art history has always provided me with new influences, whether it be artists or art movements from the past or present. Lately I’m equally inspired by the things in life that I dislike as the things I enjoy.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

That’s an incredibly hard question. Probably Louis Satchmo Armstrong. Who wouldn’t want to spend the day with him?! That would be so nice.
