A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

Executive Director at a Memphis, TN, nonprofit.

2. Why do you make art?

It’s a struggle for me. I do not like to do things that I am not good at and painting - especially watercolors - is a challenge. I recently saw a quote that said “Be brave enough to suck at something new.” That pretty much sums up art for me!

3. What inspires you?

Nature. Color.

4. What/who are your influences?

John Singer Sargent, Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Winston Churchill; he blends my long-time interest in history with my new found interest in painting – and he enjoyed the occasional adult beverage.
