A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I teach kids how to paint on zoom. I create paintings and lead step by step painting classes for children. I also work on my own personal paintings in between my classes.

2. Why do you make art?

I make art because it is a positive outlet for me. Art inspires me and challenges me more than anything else in the world. I get wrapped up in the colors and texture of my artwork and feel that it allows me to release my inner thoughts onto the canvas. I also was born to create art. Since I was a young child art was a part of me. It is my identity.

3. What inspires you?

What inspires me is nature. I often am taken aback by the beauty of nature and the colors and details that spring to life. I am surrounded by beauty and this inspires me to recreate this in my artwork. I am also inspired by other artists. One of my favorite artists is Van Gogh. His work inspires me to step outside of my comfort zone when it comes to my artwork. I feel as if seeing his work challenges me to create unique artwork that has texture and emotion and is different than what I would normally paint.

4. What/who are your influences?

My influences range from various artists. Vania Comoretti has an influence on my artwork. Her artwork captures the essence of the human face and the details that exist. Her work challenges me to create my own detailed portraits of people. My other influences are Ivan Albright, Chuck Close and Van Gogh. They are all amazing artists!

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

I would love to meet Kerry Washington.
