1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I'm a professor at Kalamazoo College. I have always thought it was the best job in the world. Especially when I can also make my art.

2. Why do you make art?

I make art because I have to make art. I understand the world through art.

3. What inspires you?

I'm inspired by other artists and the world around me.

4. What/who are your influences?

I was part of an atelier program run by an artist, Kenneth Freed. My sense of myself and my art grew exponentially under his guidance. Other artists inspire me as well. I always want to know how did they do that. I am always looking at art, thinking about art, and experimenting with art.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

I would want to meet Rembrandt. I would love to have watched him and learned from him.
