A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I live and work in New York City, and when I’m not making art I like to take walks in Central Park, visit galleries, and go to the farmer’s market and try to find the perfect loaf of sourdough bread.

2. Why do you make art?

I make art as a way of expressing myself through painting and drawing and sharing it with my community of friends and other people interested in contemporary art.

3. What inspires you?

I find inspiration in nature, the ocean, visiting museums and galleries. Visiting artist’s studios in NYC is inspiring because I can see their process of making art and sharing ideas.

4.What/who are your influences?

My influences are artists, writers, musicians and dancers. Seeing a drawing in an exhibition might inspire me to make a series of works, or a tube of light pink paint could inspire me to add the color to my painting. Music is a big inspiration too. In my drawings I use pen on graph paper and I’m reminded that simple materials can be used to make meaningful artwork.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

I’d like to meet Georgia O’Keeffe, Michelle Obama, Susan Rothenberg, Matisse, Bob Dylan and Joan Didion.
