born 1928, is a lifelong New York City artist. As a young painter, he studied with Hans Hofmann in Provincetown, and has continued painting there during summers throughout his life. He was well known as the chair of the MFA program at Parsons School of Design from 1978-1990. He has been in hundreds of group shows and dozens of solo shows in the city throughout his life. His work is in many major collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum, MOMA, and the National Museum of American Art. He was recently featured in the documentary "Remembering the Artist," made by Robert de Niro Jr about his father's life as a painter.
