(1923-2003) was an Abstract Expressionist and Figurative Expressionist painter of the post World War II era. She attended Oberlin College, Columbia University, and the Art Students League in NYC where she studied with Robert Motherwell. After school she moved to Woodstock, NY, where she struck up friendships with neighbors Philip Guston and Bradley Walker Tomlin. Beck was also an active teacher, at schools such as Queens College, Vassar College, Middlebury College, the Vermont Studio Center, and the New York Studio School of Drawing Painting and Sculpture, where she taught until shortly before her death.
